Design Engineer – Cutting Tools

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our cutting‑tool manufacturing team. The role focuses on designing high‑speed steel (HSS) and carbide tools such as drills, taps, end mills, reamers, core drills and tool bits, as well as the associated machine parts, fixtures and special tooling required for production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop HSS and carbide cutting tools in line with customer and market requirements.
• Create 2‑D drawings and 3‑D models using CAD software.
• Ensure all designs comply with international standards (ISO, DIN, ANSI, IS).
• Generate and maintain bills of materials, routing and engineering documentation in SAP.
• Support the design of machine parts, fixtures and special tooling.
• Collaborate with production, quality and maintenance teams to drive design improvements.
• Participate in new product development and design optimisation projects.

Required profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in cutting‑tool or mechanical design.
• Strong knowledge of cutting‑tool geometry and machining processes.
• Familiarity with international standards for cutting tools (ISO, DIN, ANSI, IS).
• Experience in HSS or carbide tool manufacturing is preferred.

Required skills

• CAD software – SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo or NX.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management.
• SAP for engineering documentation.
• Cutting‑tool geometry and machining process knowledge.
• Understanding of ISO/DIN/ANSI/IS standards.
