Assistant Manager / Manager – Commodity Buyer (PURx)

About the role

The Commodity Buyer (PURx) will support the sourcing and procurement function for multiple material fields, ensuring alignment with business needs and supplier strategies. This position acts as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external suppliers, driving cost‑effective and compliant sourcing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Understand material field (MFx) requirements and align sourcing strategies with commodity managers (MF1 to MF6).
• Define and update supplier hierarchy and strategy based on value and business criticality.
• Participate in sourcing decisions, providing market and supplier insights.
• Serve as liaison between suppliers, the supply market, and corporate functions.
• Represent PT Globe to external suppliers and manage communications.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, selecting partners that meet cost, quality, delivery and compliance criteria.
• Lead escalated price negotiations and resolve supplier quality or delivery issues.
• Collaborate with product buyers to challenge cost assumptions for products and commodities.
• Develop negotiation strategies and benchmark against commodity indexes and cost drivers.
• Identify risks, assess financial and operational stability, monitor performance and implement mitigation plans.
• Perform audits related to commercial approvals and adherence to processes.
• Support business planning and cash‑flow activities.
• Ensure commercial documentation and approvals follow guidelines and contract terms.

Required profile

• Graduate engineer in Mechanical, Production or Metallurgy.
• Preferred Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) qualification.
• 12‑15 years of relevant procurement or commodity buying experience.
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management and negotiation.
• Ability to assess risk and implement mitigation measures.
