Assistant Manager - Housekeeping

About the role

An entry‑level management position supporting day‑to‑day operations in Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club and Laundry (if applicable) at a luxury hotel. The role works closely with staff to clean and maintain guest rooms and public areas, conducts inspections, and helps ensure guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Manage housekeeping operations, budgets and inventory of supplies and linens.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and loss‑prevention policies.
• Oversee lost‑and‑found procedures and prepare daily work assignments based on room status.
• Communicate guest‑room status to the Front Desk promptly and coordinate maintenance needs with Engineering.
• Supervise an effective inspection program for guestrooms and public spaces.
• Provide supplies, equipment and uniforms to staff and monitor usage.
• Act as supervisor in the absence of the Director of Services or Housekeeping Manager.
• Observe service behaviors, give feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Handle guest complaints, review comment cards and promote exceptional customer service.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year housekeeping experience, OR a 2‑year degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field (no experience required).
• Entry‑level managerial mindset with strong attention to detail.
