SAP ABAP Software Engineer – API Enablement

About the role

Ford is looking for a skilled SAP ABAP Software Engineer to join the IERP API Enablement and Enhancement product teams. You will design, develop, and maintain APIs that connect SAP and non‑SAP systems, supporting the transformation of Ford’s enterprise architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop APIs using RFC, ALE/IDOCs, OData, SOAP and REST services.
• Create and maintain Core Data Services (CDS) views, AMDP classes and enhancement objects (BADI, user exits, customer exits).
• Build RICEFW components (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Extensions, Forms, Workflows) and implement SAP Script, Smart Forms, and Adobe Forms.
• Perform full‑life‑cycle API management: build, mask, spike, publish and monetize APIs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors and architecture teams to ensure design compliance and service availability.
• Provide production support, create documentation and conduct code reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of SAP ABAP development experience in S/4 HANA.
• At least two full SAP S/4 implementation cycles.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging and performance‑tuning skills.
• Effective teamwork with onsite and offshore members.

Required skills

• SAP ABAP (7.4+), OOPS‑based development.
• ODATA services, SAP UI5/Fiori, JavaScript.
• Core Data Services (CDS), AMDP, BADI, user/customer exits.
• RICEFW development, SAP Script, Smart Forms, Adobe Forms.
• IDOC, RFC, ALE, XML, JSON, SOAP, REST.
• API management tools (e.g., APIGEE), BRF+ and SAP upgrade projects.
