Primary Design Engineer – Substation Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Primary Design Engineer to lead the engineering activities for substation projects. The role involves preparing, reviewing and executing primary engineering tasks, supporting BIM 3D model development, and ensuring that all design outputs meet quality and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve drawings produced by draftsmen in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with site execution and cluster teams to clarify equipment design.
• Conduct interdisciplinary checks with civil, structural, MEP and instrumentation departments.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality systems.
• Evaluate vendor offers and related documentation.
• Perform pre‑tender engineering, including BOM estimation and offer reviews.
• Prepare detailed design calculations for busbars, UPS, DG, LT transformers, earthing conductors and related parameters such as short‑circuit forces and sag tension.
• Compare bill of materials with tender quantities and manage revisions.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of layout engineering for substation projects.
• Experience facilitating BIM 3D model creation for electrical infrastructure.
• Ability to design substation layouts and provide clear guidance to draftsmen.
• Familiarity with national and international electrical codes and standards.
• Understanding of interdisciplinary design aspects across civil, structural, mechanical and instrumentation domains.
