Head of UPI Product Innovation & Platform Evolution

About the role

NPCI is seeking a senior product leader to shape the future of the UPI ecosystem. The role will drive innovation, platform evolution, and next‑generation capabilities, ensuring UPI stays at the forefront of digital payments.

Key responsibilities

• Own and execute the innovation roadmap for new UPI features, platform enhancements, and ecosystem initiatives.
• Define strategic outcomes, milestones, adoption targets, and success metrics.
• Lead structured product discovery with banks, PSPs, merchants, fintechs, and other ecosystem participants.
• Run rapid experimentation programs to validate concepts and translate insights into build‑ready specifications.
• Define an API‑first product strategy focused on scalability, integration simplicity, and interoperability.
• Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to align product strategy with technology capabilities.
• Ensure platform readiness for scale, reliability, and performance through close partnership with engineering.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in product leadership, preferably in payments or fintech.
• Strong platform thinking, technology depth, and ecosystem understanding.
• Proven ability to drive product discovery, experimentation, and rapid delivery.
• Experience with API‑first strategies, platform governance, and AI‑enabled product acceleration.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including executive communication.
