Buyer – Procurement & Sourcing

About the role

As a Buyer at Applied Materials you will be responsible for procuring the materials, supplies, machinery and services that keep our cutting‑edge manufacturing facilities running. You will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely delivery, optimal pricing and compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate pricing, delivery and payment terms.
• Manage end‑to‑end purchase orders for non‑strategic suppliers, including creation, adjustment, tracking and closure.
• Maintain inventory levels by coordinating with Manufacturing, Engineering, Accounting and Receiving teams.
• Review MRP data in SAP/Oracle/Ariba/Coupa and execute pull‑ins, push‑outs and planner orders as needed.
• Communicate with suppliers, follow‑up on deliveries, and escalate any delays to ensure on‑time receipt.
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to documented processes, record‑keeping standards and internal controls.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in purchasing or procurement of materials, components or services.
• Proven ability to issue RFQs, assess proposals and negotiate under supervision.
• Experience managing non‑strategic suppliers and handling purchase orders end‑to‑end.
• Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Ariba or Coupa.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholder interaction.
