Associate I, Research & Development Process & Product Design

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Associate I to support research and development engineering activities for new product development. The role involves equipment specification, procurement, installation, validation, and maintenance, while ensuring projects meet milestones, budgets, safety, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on technical support for product design, testing, documentation, and compliance activities.
• Perform routine product evaluations, maintain laboratory equipment, and collect data to support research.
• Assist in troubleshooting design issues and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
• Prepare, coordinate, and document post‑production risk reviews, update risk management reports, and maintain traceability matrices.
• Support design‑control engineers and R&D stakeholders by querying internal/external databases, analyzing data, and summarising results.
• Mentor peers and contribute to the development of associate teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering with 3‑5 years of experience, or a Master’s in Engineering with demonstrated interest across engineering and scientific fields.
• Ability to work independently, identify issues proactively, and deliver quality results on schedule.
• Hands‑on experience with ISO 14971 (Risk Management) and ISO 13485 or US 21 CFR 820.30 quality systems.
