About the role
We are seeking a remote Biology Assistant Professor to join our team on a short‑term contract. You will work closely with large‑language‑model (LLM) researchers to design, solve, and evaluate challenging biology problems, helping to advance AI reasoning in the life sciences.
Key responsibilities
- Design and solve complex biology problems for LLM evaluation.
- Develop clear, step‑by‑step solutions with detailed reasoning.
- Collaborate with LLM researchers on benchmark creation and reasoning tasks.
- Define new evaluation benchmarks ranging from undergraduate to PhD‑level biology.
- Analyze biological challenges using logical, structured approaches.
- Explain biology concepts using simple language, visuals, and simulations when needed.
Required profile
- Master’s, Ph.D., or currently pursuing a Ph.D./Postdoctoral degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- Creative and lateral thinking.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency in at least three of the following tools: BWA, Bowtie2, GATK, HMMER, HHsuite, STAR, SPAdes, IQ‑TREE, OpenMM, AlphaFold2, PyOpenMS, RELION, PhysiCell, COPASI, Comet, COBRApy, Hifiasm, ABySS, DeepVariant, Flye, OR‑Tools, Bracken, Kraken2, MEGAHIT, antiSMASH, BEAST2, FastTree, DIA‑NN, Percolator, AutoDock Vina, CP2K, Salmon, MethylDackel, Canu, GROMACS.
What we offer
- Compensation of $450 per approved task.
- 11‑week contract with a full‑time commitment (8 hours/day, 4 hours overlap with PST).
- Fully remote work arrangement.
