Lead Database Engineer

About the role

Lead Database Engineer at Mastercard, responsible for defining and maintaining the data architecture, integration and load processes across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain data architecture and associated data maintenance, integration, and load processes.
• Select appropriate technologies and develop, build, maintain, and test database solutions.
• Support SQL tuning and query optimization, including development of tuning procedures.
• Implement database configurations, processes, and standards.
• Support database security posture, escalating concerns and applying risk‑mitigation plans.
• Draft status reports, perform implementation and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide high‑level technical assistance to developers and customers to ensure optimal database performance.
• Identify and recommend business and process improvements to increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience and expertise in at least one database technology.
• Experience designing and testing database architecture standards or frameworks.
• Exposure to automation and/or cloud delivery initiatives.
• Participation in a global technology domain or sub‑domain, contributing technical inputs.
• Active involvement in business resource groups and global communities.
• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot is an added advantage.
