Legal Counsel

About the role

Lubrizol is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across its operations in India, the Middle East and Africa. The role involves advising business units on contracts, compliance, and strategic initiatives while ensuring alignment with local laws and corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and guidance on business activities, contracts, and agreements.
• Deliver transactional support to Lubrizol’s businesses and functions in the India, Middle East and Africa region.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, NDAs, consulting agreements, joint‑venture agreements, real‑property agreements, sales and offtake agreements, equipment supply agreements, and EPC agreements.
• Manage day‑to‑day legal requests from business and functional teams.
• Represent the company in negotiations, mediations, and litigation.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders accordingly.
• Support strategic projects of Lubrizol’s group companies across the region.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree with a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law.
• Approximately 10 years of substantive legal experience, preferably in both leading law firms and in‑house roles.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proven commercial acumen and the capacity to act as a trusted business partner.
• Demonstrated negotiation expertise on high‑value, complex agreements.
• Experience partnering with senior leadership to promote a culture of compliance.
