Indirect Tax VAT Assistant Manager

About the role

EY is seeking an experienced tax professional to lead indirect tax and VAT engagements for its global client base. The role involves managing end‑to‑end tax projects, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, and delivering strategic tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and implement client engagements from planning through execution and completion.
• Manage engagement economics and act as the single point of contact for central or local EY teams.
• Interpret and comply with state and local tax statutes, regulations, and legislation.
• Review amended federal and state returns, work papers, and support tax audit responses.
• Analyze client operations, recommend tax strategies, and drive process improvements.
• Organize and lead conference calls to manage compliance activities.
• Promote the use of new technology, tools, and quality initiatives while adhering to EY compliance procedures.

Required profile

• Graduate or postgraduate degree, preferably in Commerce.
• 4–10 years of professional experience in state compliance, amended returns, accounts payable/receivable, and VAT.
• Strong project‑management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax‑specific applications.
• Broad exposure to federal and state income taxation and related regulations.
