Electrical Apprentice – Installation & Maintenance

About the role

The Estates Operations and Maintenance team at the University of York is looking for an Electrical Apprentice. Over a fixed‑term period of up to four years you will work towards becoming a qualified electrical tradesperson, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance on campus buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with planned preventative maintenance of electrical services.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and carry out repairs.
• Support multidisciplinary teams in the safe installation and testing of electrical systems.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Interest or general knowledge of electrical systems in a built environment.
• Ability to perform regular manual work.
• Willingness to attend college on a day or block‑release basis.
• Meet the entry requirements of the training partner.
