Design Engineer – Series Platform for Automotive Connectors

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineer who will lead the creation and development of series‑platform automotive connectors. You will work independently on parametric models, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications and internal quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive connector series platforms.
• Create and review parametric CAD models, development, manufacturing and offer drawings.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up, functional proof, and design calculations for connector assemblies.
• Implement engineering change requests (ECR) on series parts and maintain technical documentation.
• Benchmark connectors, compare specifications and support validation and design verification activities.
• Generate material master data and BOMs in SAP.

Required profile

• BE in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–6 years of experience in connector or automotive design.
• Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, elastomers, metals, plating materials and related manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, plating, assembly).
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and solve complex engineering problems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with UG NX and Teamcenter for CAD modeling.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack‑up and tool design.
• Familiarity with CAD Creo for air‑gap and creepage calculations (advantageous).
• Knowledge of SAP material master and BOM creation.
• Understanding of DRBFM, focus matrix and FMEA for connector development.
• Competence in MS Project and MS Office tools.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
