Software Technologist - Embedded (Linux Kernel, BSP & Yocto)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Technologist to join Philips’ Hospital Patient Monitoring team. You will design, develop and optimise Linux‑based solutions for medical devices, focusing on kernel, BSP and Yocto customisations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse functional requirements and design high‑quality embedded software.
• Write clean, maintainable C/C++ code and conduct peer code reviews.
• Develop and customise Linux drivers and board support packages for i.MX processors.
• Create and maintain Yocto/BitBake recipes and OpenEmbedded layers.
• Implement unit and component tests using Google Test with Gherkin BDD syntax.
• Produce technical documentation and ensure compliance with development policies.
• Debug, troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in Linux embedded development.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on work with custom Yocto‑based Linux distributions.
• Strong background in Linux device driver development and board bring‑up.
• Proficiency in C, C++, shell scripting and Python.
• Good understanding of electronics schematics and hardware data sheets.
