Social Protection Officer – Mobile Health Unit Lead

About the role

The Social Protection Officer (SPO) will lead the day‑to‑day operations of HelpAge India’s Mobile Health Unit (MHU) in Gandhidham. Reporting to the State Programme Manager, the SPO ensures effective healthcare delivery, community awareness, and access to social protection schemes for older persons.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the MHU team, organise daily operational plans and schedules, and ensure smooth field implementation of health services.
• Hire, onboard and train substitute staff, orient them on the project and the M‑Sparsh mobile app, and maintain a safe, positive work environment.
• Conduct needs assessments and community surveys, plan and schedule MHU visits, and select safe, central locations for service delivery.
• Mobilise communities, raise awareness of MHU services, and organise IEC campaigns on health, rights and entitlements.
• Deliver individual and group counselling, provide emotional and psychosocial support, and make home visits to vulnerable elderly beneficiaries.
