Shift Engineer

About the role

The Shift Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the blast furnace and associated PCI ( Pulverised Coal Injection) systems. This role ensures smooth production flow, safety of personnel, and optimal performance of key equipment during each shift.

Key responsibilities

• Observe, log, and report process parameters to the shift in‑charge.
• Maintain full material levels in day bunkers and maximize online sinter and coke charging.
• Ensure smooth operation of the coal mill and coal injection tank.
• Guarantee safety of PCI personnel and proper coal injection to the blast furnace.
• Monitor compressed air and nitrogen pressures and check health of PCI equipment from the control room.
• Visit the stock house to verify screen cleanliness and achieve required coal fineness after grinding.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to keep PCI equipment running efficiently.
• Oversee safe operation of coal blending and shifting vehicles and maintain housekeeping in the PCI area.

Required profile

• Diploma with 5‑10 years or BE with 3‑5 years of experience in control‑room and PCI operations.
• Proven experience in blast furnace operation.
• Effective communication and team‑management abilities.
• Ability to work with multiple plant stakeholders such as Sinter Plant, RMHS, Pellet Plant, Bar Mill, Quality Control, and Cast House.
