Senior Software Engineer – Android

About the role

Mastercard’s MDES team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build high‑quality Android applications that support its global digital payments ecosystem. You will work on enterprise‑grade mobile solutions that serve customers, partners and internal users across more than 200 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and modern Jetpack libraries.
• Collaborate with lead engineers to create low‑level designs and provide accurate effort estimates.
• Write unit and integration tests (JUnit, Espresso) and ensure code meets quality standards.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
• Integrate backend services via Retrofit, handle data persistence with Room and SQLite, and incorporate Firebase services where needed.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and logical thinking with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in English.
• Experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with security concepts such as authentication and authorization.
• Proven ability to deliver scalable, reliable software on schedule.

Required skills

• Android SDK, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Hilt or Koin for dependency injection.
• Room, SQLite, Firebase, Retrofit, RxJava.
• JUnit, Espresso, Maven/Ant/Gradle, Git.
• Java, J2EE, micro‑services architecture, design patterns.
• Agile development methodologies and basic security knowledge.
