Senior Site Reliability Engineer – Java/Spring Boot

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to drive reliability, performance, and operability of mission‑critical payment services. You will act as a technical authority, partnering with development and operations teams to build resilient, observable, and scalable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Improve service reliability through architecture enhancements, automation, capacity planning, and sub‑linear operational scaling.
• Lead incident handling, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortems, communicating performance bottlenecks to stakeholders.
• Design and maintain monitoring/observability solutions using Splunk, Dynatrace (or equivalent APM), and create advanced dashboards, queries, and runbooks.
• Contribute to Java/Spring Boot microservices code reviews, performance testing, and tuning using JMeter, BlazeMeter, thread/heap dump analysis, and SQL optimization.
• Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP; Cloud Foundry a plus).
• Drive POCs for new features, recommend product customisations, and ensure compliance with legal and risk standards.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on site reliability or production support.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Proven track record of incident leadership, performance engineering, and automation.
