SAP Authorization Specialist – GDE/AD

About the role

The SAP Authorization Specialist will design, implement and operate compliant SAP authorization roles and user access, supporting BASF’s digital transformation across its global landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate SAP authorization roles and user access in line with security standards.
• Ensure secure platform operations through accurate authorization design and issue resolution.
• Govern supplier‑delivered authorization services, managing requests, escalations and SLA compliance.
• Develop and maintain SAP authorization concepts, guidelines and security requirements.
• Monitor existing authorizations, define critical access objects and perform clean‑ups based on security assessments.
• Drive efficiency with cost‑effective solutions, continuous improvement and AI‑enabled capabilities.
• Apply certified SAP add‑on products to maintain a robust authorization environment.
• Lead SAP authorization activities in projects, influencing solution design and delivery.
• Communicate complex topics with diverse stakeholders, building alignment and commitment.
• Provide on‑call support for stable and secure operation of the global SAP landscape.
• Support internal and external audits through analysis, reporting and quality improvements.

Required profile

• University degree in Business IT, Business Economics, Information Science, Engineering or Natural Science.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in SAP security and authorization (operations and projects).
• Strong conflict handling abilities and excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience in supplier management, agile ways of working and service management processes.

Required skills

• Deep technical expertise in SAP authorization and user management.
• Knowledge of ServiceNow platform for service management.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and agile methodologies.
