Manager - Data Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Manager of Data Engineering to lead the Product Data & Analytics team. You will shape large‑scale data pipelines and analytical capabilities that support global decision‑making across products, markets and services.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop and maintain high‑volume data pipelines for analytics and reporting.
• Lead cross‑functional projects that turn raw data into strategic insights.
• Design and manage data models, ETL processes, data lakes and data warehouses.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver on time.
• Implement reusable processes for data ingestion, transformation, quality and testing.
• Apply data validation, cleansing and quality‑control procedures.
• Recruit, train and supervise data engineers and analysts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data engineering, data management and quantitative analysis.
• Background in financial institutions or payments is a plus.
• Strong business mindset with the ability to convert insights into strategic opportunities.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL for large data sets.
• Experience building data pipelines, lakehouses and warehouses.
• Proficiency with Databricks.
• Knowledge of Cloudera Hadoop.
• Familiarity with SQL Server.
• Understanding of big‑data technology stacks.
