Lead Electrical Switchyard & Transformer Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Lead Electrical Switchyard & Transformer Engineer is responsible for ensuring efficient and reliable operation of the switchyard and power transformer areas. The role focuses on executing maintenance activities, upholding safety and environmental standards, and driving process improvements through digitalisation and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute electrical maintenance for the switchyard, power transformer area and associated equipment to maintain continuous operational reliability.
• Implement preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.
• Plan and conduct annual (AOH) and comprehensive (COH) overhauls, managing outages safely, on‑time and within budget.
• Repair and refurbish equipment, ensuring work meets the highest quality standards.
• Monitor condition and availability of circuit breakers, transformers, isolators and earthing systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform failure analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Create purchase requisitions and prepare service entry sheets for completed services.
• Identify and act on process and system improvement opportunities, updating SOPs, JSAs and maintenance plans as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical maintenance of switchyard and transformer facilities.
• Ability to manage large‑scale maintenance projects, including overhauls during planned outages.
• Strong focus on safety, environmental compliance and reliability.
• Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and driving digitalisation initiatives.
