Lead Airport Firefighter

About the role

The Lead Airport Firefighter is responsible for responding to aircraft emergencies, fuel incidents, dangerous goods situations, and domestic fires on airport premises. Working as part of an operational rescue and firefighting team, the role ensures rapid response times and effective fire control in line with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to aircraft emergencies using Crash Fire Tenders, achieving stipulated response times.
• Handle fuel spillage, refueling standby, and dangerous‑goods incidents with appropriate fire equipment.
• Combat domestic, grass, and bush fires using Domestic Fire Tenders.
• Conduct daily inspections of all fire vehicles, record roadworthiness, and report defects.
• Supervise breathing‑apparatus cylinder filling according to regulations.
• Maintain log books, defect registers, and training records.
• Perform routine radio communication tests with ARFF Watch Tower and ATC.
• Participate in drills, refresher courses, and mandatory training sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum education: 10+2 with basic training in Airport Rescue and Firefighting.
• Fluent in English for operational commands and training.
• 100% attendance in mandatory training and a commitment to safety standards.
• No budgetary or direct‑report responsibilities.

Required skills

• Operation of Crash Fire Tenders and Domestic Fire Tenders.
• Fire vehicle inspection and maintenance documentation.
• Breathing‑apparatus cylinder filling procedures.
• Radio communication testing and coordination with ATC.
• Accurate log‑book and record keeping.
