Design Engineer – Gauges & Fixtures

About the role

Bradken is seeking a Design Engineer to develop gauges and checking fixtures for its product lines, including mill liners and fixed plant equipment. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality engineering solutions while supporting the company’s carbon‑neutral ambition.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and engineer gauges and checking fixtures based on mechanical engineering principles.
• Create solid models, detailed drawings, hand calculations, tolerance studies, and simulation analyses.
• Perform reverse engineering, generate technical reports and maintain documentation in the PLM system.
• Investigate product failures, provide feedback for improvements, and identify potential intellectual property.
• Support customers in troubleshooting measurement issues and improve inspection methods.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance gauge efficiency, usability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Manage CAD models, BOMs and PLM data, and participate in technical reviews.
• Apply knowledge of CNC machining, grinding, welding and heat‑treatment processes.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge with high attention to detail.
• Proven experience translating design requirements into detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience designing customized products, interpreting GD&T, and approving design drawings.
• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse, cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to undertake ad‑hoc responsibilities as required.
