Custodian (Shelter Janitor) – Internal Competition

About the role

The Shelter Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents of the shelter. Working closely with the Shelter Manager and other staff, the custodian ensures that all areas meet health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning, washing, and disinfection of shelter facilities.
• Manage waste disposal and maintain sanitation supplies.
• Monitor and restock cleaning materials and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report maintenance issues and assist with minor repairs as needed.
• Adhere to confidentiality agreements and shelter policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, walk, and climb stairs.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to sign the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement.

Required skills

• Knowledge of proper cleaning, washing, and disinfection techniques.
• Familiarity with the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
