Closure Engineer – Automotive Exterior & Lids Design

About the role

The Closure Engineer will lead the design and development of automotive exterior and lid/closure components such as fuel filler flaps, charge flaps, housings, hinge mechanisms, tailgate trims and anti‑pinch devices. Reporting to senior management, the role combines concept creation, 3D modelling and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver compliant, high‑quality parts on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new automotive exterior and lid/closure components from concept to production using CATIA V5/V6.
• Create 3D and 2D models, master sections and tooling feasibility studies.
• Lead design reviews with cross‑functional and global OEM teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety and quality standards, including GD&T and DFMEA.
• Generate project deliverables, risk assessments, lessons learned and technical reports.
• Coordinate with moulding and tooling teams to validate plastic injection processes.

Required profile

• 4–12 years of automotive product engineering experience, specifically in closures and lids.
• Proven ability to manage design projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of Indian and global exterior trim regulations (advantageous).
• Experience working with global OEM cross‑functional teams.
