Assistant/Associate Professor – Media Research & Writing

About the role

The School of Emerging Media & Creator Economy (SEMCE) at K.R. Mangalam University seeks a research‑active faculty member to teach media research and journalistic writing. The position emphasizes digital platforms, AI, and emerging media in the Indian context, and requires bilingual proficiency in Hindi and English.

Key responsibilities

• Teach communication and media research courses, covering research design, methods, ethics, and digital/social media analysis.
• Deliver journalistic and strategic writing classes (news, features, explainers, press releases, newsletters, blogs, scripts) in both Hindi and English.
• Conceptualise, launch, and manage a peer‑reviewed research journal for SEMCE, overseeing editorial workflows and outreach.
• Plan and host national and international conferences, handling themes, calls for papers, review processes, and publications.
• Integrate AI and digital tools into writing and research workflows; train students on research tools, reference management, survey platforms, basic statistics, and analytics.
• Conduct and publish refereed research in digital media, journalism, creator economy, AI, and communication.
• Seek fellowships, grants, and consultancy projects; mentor students and junior faculty in research culture.
• Contribute to university service through committees, accreditation documentation, and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent in communication, media studies, journalism, or a related field.
• Bilingual fluency in Hindi and English with strong journalistic and academic writing skills.
• Proven or clear potential for an active publication record in peer‑reviewed venues.
• Solid grounding in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed‑methods research.
• Familiarity with AI, algorithms, and new media environments.
• Organisational ability to manage editorial processes and academic events.
• Experience mentoring students and early‑career researchers.
