About the role

The Department of English and Foreign Languages at SRMIST is seeking a motivated, research‑active academic to join as an Assistant Professor of English. The incumbent will primarily teach English language, communication, and literature courses to undergraduate engineering students and contribute to the department’s research and academic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Teach English language, communication, and literature modules to B.Tech students across engineering disciplines.
• Design and deliver outcome‑based curricula aligned with programme objectives.
• Publish research in Scopus or Web of Science indexed journals.
• Mentor students in academic writing, presentations, and competitive examinations.
• Participate in departmental activities such as syllabus revision, Board of Studies meetings, and accreditation processes.
• Contribute to funded research projects, consultancy, and international collaborations.
• Engage with industry partners for communication training and placement support.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent qualification in English, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated research activity with publications in reputable indexed journals.
• Experience teaching English to undergraduate students, preferably in a technical or engineering context.
• Ability to mentor and guide students in academic and professional development.
